How did you get involved in the mortgage industry?
I became involved in the mortgage industry after several years in banking and developing an interest in lending. A friend of a friend introduced me to a local mortgage company.

What is the biggest challenge or opportunity you have seen in the mortgage industry?
There are many challenges in the mortgage industry for both the consumer and the loan officer and staff.  Regulation change has resulted in greater fees and more paperwork for the consumer.  I question how much benefit they are receiving.  Changes is technology have made it easier to reach more people and allow the convenience of electronic documents and signatures.

What advice would you give people just entering the industry?
The best advice I can give to new people in the industry is to expect change and keep learning.  Don’t be afraid of it.

Do you have a quick tip for saving time, generating leads, tracking information, etc. that you would like to share?
A customer retention/management system can be useful in keeping track of customers and referral partners.

When you are not at work, what do you like to do most?
When I’m not at work I really enjoy time outdoors.  Camping/hiking, boating, bicycling, and jogging are my primary activities.

What is a quote or a guiding principle you live by?
A guiding principal I live by is kindness and compassion to everyone.
